Batik is something can be learned actually. It uses wax and dye as basic compositions with the help of color and small sharp equipment named "tjanting". This tjanting helps artist put wax on a cloth. They cover the pattern above the cloth, so when it is dyed, the original color will not affected. A batik artist usually spends weeks up to months to finish one cloth. It happens because the design is still done manually without using any advanced machines. However, to cover the demand, some manufacturers also apply stamp. The stamp has been carved with particular designs of batik. Artist who wants to batik just have to give the stamp wax and then put it above cloth and the pattern will be appeared automatically. It usually called as batik printing or "batik cap". The price of "batik cap" is much cheaper than the traditional one.
